Division Overview:

TMHCC Stop Loss, a prominent division within TMHCC, specializes in offering medical stop loss insurance to employers. This insurance serves as an additional layer of protection for organizations that opt to self-fund their health benefit plans, shielding them from the financial risks associated with catastrophic claims.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a meticulous and dedicated Underwriting Assistant II to support our Accident & Health team. In this position, you will engage in various routine underwriting activities to facilitate the processing and renewal of policies and contracts within the Underwriting department.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilizing your experience and expertise, you will be responsible for the following tasks, which encompass a wide range of duties:
  • Gather and distribute census and zip code data for entry into internal databases by Underwriting Assistants.
  • Analyze and interpret plan documents, amendments, and schedules of benefits provided by third-party administrators (TPAs) and brokers.
  • Ensure the accuracy and completeness of underwriting information and data entry forms related to new and sold business, as well as renewals and life cases.
  • Input all relevant information obtained from requests for proposal (RFPs) to generate manual rates from the internal database.
  • Assess aggregate reports from TPAs and brokers to evaluate risk and assist Underwriters in their decision-making process.
Position Knowledge, Skills, and Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as benefit plans, bid specifications, claims reports, and procedural manuals.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, emphasizing confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Advanced organizational and analytical skills; proven ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
