Job Summary

As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. You will operate radiographic equipment to produce high-quality images of the body, ensuring optimal diagnostic quality and patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures, utilizing your expertise to ensure accurate and efficient results.
  • Explain procedures to patients, reducing anxieties and obtaining cooperation, while maintaining a high level of tact, courtesy, and poise.
  • Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified body areas, as requested by physicians.
  • Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and the degree of penetration required, ensuring accurate and detailed images.
  • Operate mobile radiologic equipment in various settings, including operating rooms, emergency rooms, and patient bedsides.
  • Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality results.
  • Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians, processing and reviewing them for proper identification and quality control.
  • Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment, arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
  • Orient new staff and train students, sharing your expertise and knowledge to ensure a smooth transition.

  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Radiologic Technologist Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos, as well as write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.

Work Environment

This role is based at Kaiser Permanente's Santa Rosa Hospital, with a scheduled weekly hours of 1 and a shift of Evening. The workdays are Sunday through Saturday, with working hours starting at 12:00 PM and ending at 08:30 PM.
