Cancer Epidemiology Postdoctoral Researcher

Position Overview:
A postdoctoral research opportunity in the field of cancer and genetic epidemiology is currently open at the USC Center for Genetic Epidemiology, part of the Department of Population and Public Health Sciences.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. (or an equivalent degree) with a strong foundation in epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or statistical genetics. This role involves collaboration with esteemed researchers, Drs. Chris Haiman and David Conti, focusing on the analysis of risk factors and genetic data from a variety of cohorts.
Research Focus:
The postdoctoral fellow will engage in projects analyzing data from significant studies, including the Multiethnic Cohort study and the RESPOND African American prostate cancer study, along with other large-scale genetics consortia. Research will not only center on cancer but will also explore non-cancer outcomes such as:
1. Anthropometric traits
2. Diabetes
3. Biomarkers (lipids, glucose, insulin, inflammatory markers)
Additionally, the candidate will have opportunities to work on polygenic risk score development, rare variant analysis, and health disparities research. Familiarity with common analytical tools for genetic association studies is highly desirable.
Responsibilities:
The selected individual will be expected to contribute to the presentation of research findings and assist in the preparation of publications. A strong motivation and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for success in this role.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate obtained within the last five years
- Experience: 0-1 year in a related field
- Field of Expertise: Directly related education in research specialization with advanced knowledge of relevant equipment, procedures, and analysis methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
Training in epidemiology, biostatistics, and/or statistical genetics is preferred.

Compensation:
The annual base salary range for this position is $64,480 - $72,000. When making an employment offer, the University considers various factors, including the scope of the position, the candidate's experience, education, key skills, and market considerations.
