Job Summary

The Culinary Institute of America is seeking a skilled Nurse Manager to oversee the smooth operation of our healthcare services. This role requires a strong leader who can maintain a safe and positive work environment, ensuring the highest quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce state and federal regulations for patient safety, educating staff on any changes.
  • Enforce infection-control, medication administration, and storage policies, as well as clinical supplies and protocols.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient care services, ensuring patient confidentiality and protecting operations.
  • Organize staff training, introduce new procedures, and direct, mentor, and schedule staff, including communicating job expectations.
  • Delegate tasks and patient assignments to nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, effectively managing nursing staff responsibilities during busy shifts.
  • Collaborate with the Office Manager to identify and align facilities work orders, follow-ups, and completion, as well as collect data for usage reports, trends, and cost analysis.
  • Inventories and restocks nursing supplies, monitors admissions, discharges, and follow-up visits for the Health Services Clinic.
  • Evaluate staff performance, provide input to the Director - Health Services, and recommend corrective measures if necessary.
  • Meet nursing operational standards by contributing to strategic plans and reviews, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems, and identifying system improvements.
  • Build a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information and responding to requests.
  • Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience.
  • Minimum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Registered Nurse license, with the ability to practice within New York State.
  • Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and first aid certification.
  • Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • NYS Infection Control Course completion, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Wound Care Certification.
  • Previous work experience in a school clinic setting.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Medicat, or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) System.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills required.
  • Well-versed in HIPPA privacy and security rules.
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues with confidentiality and discretion.
  • Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment with all levels within an organization.
  • Display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
  • Strong computer experience, which must include the ability to work effectively with Electronic Medical Records, MS Office Suite products, i.e., Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
  • Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to physically respond to ill and/or injured students in other areas of the campus.
  • Ability to transport patients in a wheelchair.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.
  • Ability to lift up to twenty-five pounds independently, and patients with assistance.
