Nurse Manager

The Culinary Institute of America is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charge Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient patient flow within our clinic, utilizing an integrated approach to healthcare and care delivery.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement state and federal regulatory guidelines for patient safety and educate staff on any changes in laws and their impact on care delivery.
- Enforce infection-control, medication administration and storage, controlled substances, and all clinical supplies and protocols.
- Maintain documentation of patient care services, ensure patient confidentiality, and protect operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
- Organize training of staff or introduce new procedures and protocols, direct, mentor, and schedule staff, including communicating job expectations.
- Delegate assignments and provide supervision for nursing and support staff within their scope of practice.
- Responsible for work schedules, procedure schedules, assignments, coordination of meetings and provider communications.
- Delegate tasks and patient assignments to nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel, effectively delegate nursing staff responsibilities during busy shifts.
- Collaborate with Office Manager in the identification and alignment of facilities work orders, follow-ups, and completion, and collaborate with Office Manager in the collection of data for usage reports, trends, and cost analysis.
- Inventories and restocks nursing supplies.
- Monitor and assist with admissions, discharges, and follow-up visits for Health Services Clinic.
- Evaluate staff performance, provide input to the Director - Health Services, and recommend corrective measures, if necessary.
- Meet nursing operational standards by contributing information to strategic plans and reviews, implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards, resolving problems, and identifying system improvements.
- Build a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by communicating information and responding to requests.
- Develop professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies.
- Associates degree in Nursing from an accredited school.
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience.
- Registered Nurse license, with the ability to practice within New York State.
- Cardiopulmonary (CPR) and first aid certification.
- Basic Life Saving (BLS) Certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- NYS Infection Control Course completion, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Wound Care Certification.
- Previous work experience in a school clinic setting.
- Proficiency in Medicat, or other Electronic Health Record (EHR) System.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills required.
- Well-versed in HIPPA privacy and security rules.
- Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive issues with confidentiality and discretion.
- Must have demonstrated ability in organizational, time management, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment with all levels within an organization.
- Display a high level of energy and self-motivation.
- Strong computer experience, which must include the ability to work effectively with Electronic Medical Records, MS Office Suite products, i.e., Word, Excel, Publisher, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends as required by business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time.
- Ability to physically respond to ill and/or injured students in other areas of the campus.
- Ability to transport patients in a wheelchair.
- Ability to bend, stoop, and kneel.
- Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds independently, and patients with assistance.
