The CIA's Office of Inspector General seeks a highly qualified Associate Counsel to provide expert legal guidance to the Audit, Inspections, and Investigations Staffs.

About the Role

This senior-level position requires a strong understanding of Federal criminal law and procedure, as well as excellent research and writing skills. As an Associate Counsel, you will be responsible for advising OIG leadership on complex legal issues and collaborating with other teams to achieve effective resolution of legal and policy matters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert legal advice to OIG leadership on matters related to Federal criminal law and procedure
  • Collaborate with other teams to develop policies and procedures that promote effective oversight of the Intelligence Community
  • Conduct thorough research and analysis to inform legal opinions and recommendations
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging trends and developments in Federal criminal law and procedure
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • An active membership in the Bar of one of the fifty states or the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the US Virgin Islands
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience practicing law, preferably in a federal Inspector General's Office or within the Intelligence Community
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and writing, with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with others across different teams and organizations
  • Knowledge of administrative law, including procurement and fiscal law, conflicts of interest, ethics, Freedom of Information Act, or Privacy Act
Desired Qualifications

Prior experience in a federal Inspector General's Office or within the Intelligence Community is highly desirable. Additionally, knowledge of administrative law, government contracts, appropriations law, Federal criminal law and procedure, national security litigation, Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act, and whistleblower law would be beneficial.
