Laboratory Specialist

Penn Medicine is dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care, conducting innovative research, and educating future healthcare professionals. As a Laboratory Specialist, you will play a vital role in our mission by performing a variety of routine and complex tests in our clinical laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
Introduce yourself to patients, families, visitors, or other employees when interacting with them.
Accomplish routine and stat testing within established guidelines and produce accurate results.
Make correct judgments about the validity of test results based on quality control data and patient status.
Maintain complete and accurate logs or documents, including QC, as required, according to section protocols.
Use autoverification and associated technologies to release results where validated.
Recognize critical values and reportable results according to protocol.
Report critical results appropriately to authorized caregivers and document this action in the laboratory information system.
Requirements
An Associate's Degree is required, and a Bachelor's Degree with MLS or MT is preferred. Certifications, education, and/or experience must meet CLIA requirements for moderate and high complexity testing. Instrumentation experience is also preferred.
Work Environment
