Medical Assistant Professional

OU Health is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant I to join our team at the OU Edmond Multispecialty. As a key member of our ambulatory care team, you will work closely with Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers to provide direct patient care according to state and federal guidelines.
In this role, you will play an essential part in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and feel at ease throughout their visit. You will be responsible for performing clinical and administrative duties, including taking vitals, patient history, venipuncture, lab, x-ray, referrals, and patient phone messages as directed by the provider and/or clinical supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care, adhering to National Patient Safety Goals and contributing to the assessment/re-assessment of patients.
- Monitor and document patient status, manage large call volumes, and maintain excellent telephone etiquette.
- Organize workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner, retrieve and transport medications, instruments, and supplies.
- Moderate exposure to hazardous risks, including potential for exposure to infections and communicable diseases, blood and body fluids, electrical equipment, chemicals.
- Follow standard precautions, stock exam rooms, take inventory, and order supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred.
- 0-3 years of experience in Patient Care as a Medical Assistant or similar patient care role preferred.
- Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire; one of the following certifications required upon hire: Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Registered Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Personnel, Registered Medical Assistant - American Allied Health, Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National HealthCareer Association, National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant - National Association for Health Professionals.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ability to interact professionally with healthcare practitioners and patients, effective communication skills, observation skills, teamwork ability, detail-oriented, composure in difficult situations, understanding and sensitivity to others' needs.
About the Opportunity
