Job Overview

CABVI seeks a skilled Technology Teacher to educate children and adults who are blind and visually impaired in computer and technology skills, enabling them to achieve success in school, at home, and in the workplace.

Key Responsibilities
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology advancements, including hardware and software, and be willing to learn assistive technology and applications for those with visual impairments.
  • Collaborate with the Assistive Technology Manager to develop opportunities for sharing technology with other professionals through workshops, conferences, staff training days, agency tours, and more.
  • Work with the Assistive Technology Manager to design and conduct engaging, informative programs for both adults and children with visual impairments in residential, remote, and day programs. Ensure all required documentation is completed, meet the needs of all students in individual and group settings, and provide classroom instruction within the technology center, while also assisting with program participant recruitment.
  • Continuously research advances in the technology field, new products, and applications, attend necessary trainings and meetings, and remain committed to advancing your knowledge in computer skills through continuing education.
  • Develop and ensure the provision of high-quality technology services, with timely delivery to CABVI consumers.
  • Foster professional, collegial relationships with school districts, other CABVI departments, funding/grant sources, and related groups.
  • Provide technology services to children with visual impairments in public/private school settings.
  • Offer consultative services to teachers and school personnel, complete assessments, develop lesson plans, and submit quarterly and annual reports, while providing training to parents and caregivers as needed.
  • Work with CABVI internal departments to ensure assistive technology needs of employees are met, provide assessment and training as needed.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation in a timely manner.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • A minimum of an associate's degree in teaching, vocational training, technology, or education is preferred; formal training certificates in software or hardware applications may be substituted for advanced degrees.
  • A minimum of one year experience in a teaching or training capacity is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, teaching ability, and capacity to work cooperatively with diverse personalities are essential.
  • Exceptional computer skills and extensive knowledge of technology, including mainstream technology like computers, cell phones, tablets, software applications, and training programs.
  • Knowledge of conventional hardware/software and installation on both PC and Macintosh systems.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Knowledge of Google applications such as Docs and Sheets, mobile device applications including iOS and Android, and willingness to learn new technology.
  • The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds is required.
Compensation and Benefits

This full-time position offers a competitive salary, with a base rate of $52.38 per hour and potential for part-time/nb options up to 19 hours per week.
