Job Overview

Position: Quality Specialist – Contract Role

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8AM – 5PM

Work Arrangement: Primarily Remote with occasional in-office days

Location: Pittsburgh, PA

Training: Initial orientation will take place in the office, followed by most training conducted remotely with minimal in-office attendance required.

Objective: The Quality Specialist plays a vital role in various quality initiatives. This position collaborates with diverse teams across the organization. Responsibilities include conducting quality assessments, gathering metrics to provide insights into performance trends, identifying opportunities for clinical and process enhancements, contributing to improvement initiatives, and evaluating the effectiveness of implemented changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interprets accreditation criteria and oversees internal actions to ensure compliance; relevant accreditations may encompass specialty pharmacy, rare disease, home infusion therapy, and DMEPOS.
  • Facilitates the organization's readiness for accreditations; liaises with surveyors; monitors progress and outstanding tasks; ensures timely submission of documents; coordinates necessary staff interviews.
  • Examines patient care records and performs quality assessments.
  • Ensures completion of deviation reports and tracks the progress and effectiveness of corrective action plans.
  • Collects, validates, analyzes, and interprets quality data to identify performance trends and opportunities for clinical and process enhancements.
  • Actively supports internal quality improvement initiatives and seeks out opportunities for enhancement.
  • Collaborates with various departments to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and quality program objectives.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of accreditation standards throughout the accreditation cycle.
  • Assists in preparing for quality and regulatory audits conducted by external entities.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree.
  • A minimum of two years in a healthcare quality role focused on accreditations and quality projects with proven success.
  • High level of self-motivation and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong understanding of quality improvement and performance management principles.
  • Effective communication skills that are clear, logical, and consistent.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Competence in collecting, analyzing, reviewing, and interpreting operational metrics.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects concurrently, adjusting priorities as necessary to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) software and other relevant applications.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related healthcare field.
  • Certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ).
