Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric Nursing Assistant II to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our recovery team, you will provide high-quality patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) in an inpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency, health, and personal care services to patients, observing and reporting patient conditions and behaviors.
  • Interact with patients therapeutically, promoting living and social skills to encourage progress towards a lesser restrictive environment.
  • Participate in individualized and unit-based programming, serving as a liaison to the recovery team or admissions team.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, hygiene, and eating to promote independence and self-care.
  • Monitor patients, providing observation to ensure health and safety, and escort patients to appointments as required.
  • Communicate patient care information clearly and concisely, using basic computer skills and documentation procedures.
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of patient care techniques, treatment, therapy, developmental, and patient-centered recovery programs.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to interact with other team members effectively.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and conduct TIPS.
  • Ability to work with others and accept supervision, as well as train and provide guidance to others.
Working Conditions:

This position may involve exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The employee has full access to a limited set of records in accordance with HIPPA regulations.
