Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Combustion Turbine Technician III to join our team at Duke Energy. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on combustion turbine equipment, including gas turbines, pumps, valves, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot equipment performance, identifying and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conduct inventory duties, including generating spare parts lists and revising inventory lists as needed.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operations and maintenance of the combustion turbine facility.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our operations and maintenance processes.
Requirements
  • 2-year college degree or technical school certificate, or 2+ years of related experience or combustion turbine industry training.
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Journeyman Electrical skill and competence in mechanical, I&C, and operations disciplines.
  • Ability to work around equipment that generates electromagnetic fields (EMF).
  • Ability to lift up to 275 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with digital control systems (Ovation, T-3000) and programmable logic controllers.
  • Additional years of experience with combustion turbine technology.
  • Experience with large heavy gas turbine supplier technologies.
  • High voltage and substation maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience with mechanical and electronic field testing equipment.
  • Experience with digital control systems, programmable logic controllers, and multi-fueled technologies.
  • Experience with heavy equipment rigging and a combustion turbine site with heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of heavy lifting cranes and rigging requirements.
  • Proficiency with computers, software applications, plant work management software, and tools such as Microsoft packages.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent overtime, including weekend work and holidays.
  • Able to work/respond on short notice to support planned/unplanned/emergency site events.
  • Rotating shifts.
  • Must be able to work at heights, from suspended work platforms, and in confined spaces.
  • This position requires field work in a combustion turbine cycle facility, which includes exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and humidity.
  • Exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF).
