Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Supplier Quality Engineer to join our Global Supply Chain team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the systematic management of supplier quality through the implementation of the Supplier Quality Program/Process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to liaise between product engineers and vendors.
  • Lead, or participate in, global cross-functional supplier validation audits in the assessment of new or existing suppliers' Quality Management Systems.
  • Assist in the Global Supply Chain approval process by assessing supplier manufacturing capabilities.
  • Conduct onsite supplier visits for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions taken by suppliers to address known quality issues.
  • Review supplier manufacturing processes and collaborate with suppliers on process improvements.
  • Consolidate and evaluate supplier performance data to identify Global Supplier performance.
  • Support and lead process improvement initiatives at suppliers.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams in the development of new products or changes related to current products.
  • Collaborate with quality control personnel, in plants worldwide, to address defective supplier material or parts and ensures the proper corrective and preventive actions are put in place.
  • Generate comprehensive quality assessment reports for critical global suppliers.
  • Drive the escalation of unresolved supplier quality issues to successfully overcome.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the implementation of improvements in support of Manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives worldwide.
  • Responsible for the proper use of the appropriate quality tools and methods, such as DOE, RCCA, 8D, MSA, FAI, sampling plans, process capability analysis, FTA and SPC to help resolve supplier quality issues in an efficient and effective manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 3+ years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment (automotive, heavy equipment, or heavy custom 'make to order' industries).
  • A minimum of 1 year of Global supplier experience.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Strong knowledge of welding.
  • Strong data analytics and reporting skills.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge.
  • Ability to travel globally.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead teams and work in a diverse cross-functional global environment.
  • Computer skills - Proficient with MS Office, ERP systems, Data analytics.
  • Ability to read, analyze, communicate, and interpret technical data/drawings.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CQE certification.
  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher.

Travel

  • 5%-25% domestic and international.
