Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the preventative and daily maintenance of production machinery at Heinen's Manufacturing plant to maximize production uptime.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Compliance and Safety: Follows all company policies and procedures, including GMP's, Food Safety, and Occupational Safety guidelines.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment, work tools, and facilities to ensure assets are in good/safe working order.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Performs equipment and building preventative maintenance following established schedules.
  • Downtime Control: Controls downtime with routine preventative maintenance techniques and maintains a strong line of communication with the Production team.
  • Inventory Management: Maintains equipment, part, and supply inventories by checking stock and anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies.
  • Pre-Operational Inspection: Performs daily pre-operational inspection and set-up tasks to ensure equipment is ready to run.
  • Complex Repairs: Executes complex repairs to system components and associated equipment using original equipment manufacturers' recommendations and specifications.
  • Electrical Systems: Understands complex electrical schematics, PLC control functions, and Electrical Distribution systems with the ability to troubleshoot root causes and determine proper repairs.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzes data and trend values to determine the need for increased maintenance frequencies or improved procedures and safe work practices.
  • Team Support: Assists department management in the supervision and documentation of Contractor activity and performance related to the process equipment.
  • Technical Guidance: Provides mechanical and technical guidance and expertise to production team members and continually improves the education, experience, and skill set within the department.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years' experience in a food production repair/troubleshooting position.
  • Proficient General PC skills and ability to utilize all Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory agencies and requirements (USDA, FDA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Experience with PLC, Electrical Systems, HVAC, and Pneumatics preferred.
  • Able to follow all necessary safety guidelines (personal, food, and sanitation).
  • Initiative-taker able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to prioritize (and re-prioritize) based on the changing needs of the business.
  • Able to work with a wide range of equipment in a food manufacturing facility, including Meat Slicers, Meat Grinders, Mixers, Food Conveyors, Multi-Vac, Labelers, Metal Detectors, Ovens, Packaging Equipment, and Boilers.
  • Able to read and comprehend instructions, equipment manuals, schematic diagrams, and blueprints, welding experience a plus.
