Job Summary:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all products are processed, packed, stored, and shipped under good sanitary conditions and in accordance with Heinen's procedures and government standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report, track, analyze, and resolve store and/or consumer complaints.
  • Promote safety through regular scheduled safety meetings, daily discussions, and observations.
  • Maintain all documentation for the Heinen's Quality System.
  • Train associates in Quality Control and/or Assurance techniques and procedures to perform all tests, audits, and inspections.
  • Assure accurate results of analytical, microbiological, and organoleptic tests through proper maintenance and adjustment of laboratory equipment.
  • Review specifications for packaging materials and assist in accepting or rejecting incoming packaging material based on performance.
  • Assist on requests for work orders for supplier-related production losses.
  • Read and react to process audits both internal and external (USDA, Health Department, ODA).
  • Inform the appropriate team members of laboratory results and other Quality Assurance information through verbal communication and the Gleason system.
  • Interface with others on plant conditions, process, procedure, and policy deviations.
  • Direct Quality Assurance responsibility with FDA, USDA, and State Department of Agriculture, as well as outside auditing companies.
  • Responsible for auditing sanitation to comply with State and Federal governmental law.
  • Assist in developing and implementing the production facility HACCP program.
  • Quarantine or approve hourly production based on hourly analytical process controls, food safety/HACCP checks, microbiological, and organoleptic analysis.
  • Work with Supply Chain Analyst to ensure that food packaging meets company and Preventive Controls requirements.
  • Assist in accepting or rejecting incoming packaging material.
  • Participate in Food Safety Team meetings on HACCP and current issues.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • A minimum of 1 year food safety experience is preferred.
  • HACCP Certifications preferred.
  • Must possess the ability to use Microsoft tools including: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must possess the ability to lead, problem solve, communicate, motivate, and mediate.
  • Must possess knowledge of operations, equipment, and standard specifications.
  • Must understand and comply with government regulations, process sheets, and quality procedures.
  • Must be willing to work the amount of hours required to meet company objectives.
