Housing Program Coordinator

Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year
This role involves performing various activities related to the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program. Key responsibilities include processing applications for eligibility and screening, re-certifying participants' status, preparing contracts, conducting briefings, and verifying information in accordance with HUD regulations, HCV policy, and performance standards.
The primary objective is to assist low-income families and individuals who may be homeless, elderly, or disabled. Services will include helping clients secure affordable housing and improving their living conditions with the goal of enhancing quality of life and self-sufficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Annual re-certifications, interim recertification, transfers, special program referrals, terminations, and rent increases for HCV participants.
- All work activities should support achievement of SEMAP, contractual standards, and/or other performance measures as required.
- Scheduling recertifications and appointments with participants; interviewing participants.
- Collecting recertification information, including income and required documentation for HCV administration.
- Accurately verifying information from multiple sources based on HUD verification procedures and the Administrative Plan.
- Notifying participants and owners of interim re-certification results.
- Making recommendations for termination of assistance or HAP contract when appropriate.
- Monitoring participant moves and lease terminations.
- Accurately preparing weekly reports on recertification and other reports.
- Entering data into appropriate databases.
- Conducting briefings with tenants to explain HUD and administrative plan guidelines.
- Answering telephone inquiries from participants and property owners.
- Receiving and reviewing applications/documentation to certify family eligibility and verify compliance with program guidelines.
- Accurately calculating gross/adjusted income, deductions, allowances, rent to owner, and HAP Payment to owner.
- Processing files (interim changes, annual re-certifications, moves, initial certifications, rent increases, etc.) and other assigned processes.
- Accurate and timely data entry to maintain updated computer files regarding rent calculations and master files; utilizing computer programs to prepare correspondence and reports.
- Maintaining a caseload of participants.
- Demonstrating flexibility; open and receptive to new ideas and approaches at all levels.
- Demonstrating knowledge of HUD rules and regulations, program procedures, forms, and the Administrative Plan.
- Maintaining necessary skill sets to meet performance standards and comply with changing administrative requirements.
