Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Supply Chain Analytics team at Amazon. As a Business Intelligence Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering business intelligence and data science solutions to our supply chain optimization and forecast accuracy teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present business recommendations to reduce fulfillment cost, optimize resources, and protect customer experience.
  • Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform business teams of noteworthy storylines that impact the business.
  • Work with other technology teams to extract, transform, and load data from various data sources using SQL, scripting languages, and AWS technologies.
  • Continuously learn, evaluate, and implement various big-data technologies and solutions to optimize processing of extremely large data sets in an accurate and timely fashion.
  • Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting, analysis, data integrity, test design, validation, and documentation.
  • Build automated data solutions and dashboards to enable your team to self-service data needs, allowing you to focus on answering hard and ambiguous problems.
About the Role

This position requires excellent statistical and analytical abilities, deep knowledge of business intelligence solutions and data engineering practices, and the ability to partner with various teams across Amazon. The successful candidate will be a self-starter comfortable with ambiguity, capable of working in a fast-paced environment, possess a strong attention to detail, and able to collaborate with internal customers to understand and transform business problems into requirements and deliverables.

Requirements
  • 5+ years of SQL experience
  • 7+ years of professional or military experience
  • Experience programming to extract, transform, and clean large (multi-TB) data sets
  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results
  • Experience with AWS technologies
  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning, and data mining
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs
  • Experience managing, analyzing, and communicating results to senior leadership

Compensation

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
