Job Description:
The Resident Physician Assistant - Cardiothoracic Surgery role is a vital part of our healthcare team. You will work closely with attending physicians and other staff members to provide exceptional patient care. Your expertise and clinical acumen will be invaluable in caring for critically ill patients in the intensive care setting. This role involves conducting preoperative evaluations, intraoperative assisting, and postoperative care of cardiothoracic patients. Additionally, you will maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by reading appropriate books, journals, and attending conferences and seminars.

Responsibilities:
- Participate in all aspects of care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients under physician supervision.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care provided to assigned patients.
- Conduct preoperative evaluations, intraoperative assisting, and postoperative care of cardiothoracic patients.
- Perform diagnostic or therapeutic procedures as needed within the scope of practice of the supervising physician.

Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- State of Michigan Physician's Assistant License.
- DEA Controlled Substance Registration Certificate, United States Dept. of Justice.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider Certification.
- Fundamental Critical Care Support – Provider, Society of Critical Care Medicine.

Salary: $140,000 - $170,000 per year.

About the Role:
This is a full-time position that requires a high degree of clinical acumen and technical skill for performing invasive procedures. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with patients, families, consulting physicians, and hospital staff. Ability to interact with grieving family members in a compassionate manner.
