With an aging population, rising obesity and diabetes rates, and an increase in surgical procedures, the demand for specialized care for non-healing wounds is growing. Consequently, our organization is focused on delivering high-quality outcomes to as many patients as possible through our outpatient clinic partnerships.

The Patient Navigator plays a crucial role in managing various front office operations, ensuring the efficient functioning of a busy outpatient wound care center, and providing essential support to the WCC staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with center leadership to optimize daily patient intake.
  • Engages in staff meetings to enhance key operations within the center.
  • Welcomes patients and visitors, directing calls to the appropriate personnel.
  • Handles all patient communication needs, including scheduling and appointment reminders, while coordinating with providers as per the care continuum model.
  • Collects and verifies patient insurance details, including pre-certifications and authorizations, and enters data into relevant systems.
  • Records and processes patient charges accurately.
  • Ensures charge verification and reconciliation as instructed, compiles monthly patient survey data, and prepares necessary documentation for providers.
  • Organizes new patient files, maintains existing records, and conducts regular checks for data accuracy and required signatures.
  • Coordinates and schedules ancillary testing with other departments.
  • Arranges transportation for patients as necessary.
  • Maintains office and medical supplies as required.
  • Performs additional duties as needed.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED; Associate's degree is preferred.
  • At least two years of office administration experience, ideally in a healthcare setting; prior experience in medical coding is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Typing speed of 60 words per minute.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Collaborative team player.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • Prolonged viewing of computer screens.
  • Frequent keying on a computer.
  • Reading and communicating effectively.
  • Ability to lift and move items up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Repetitive motions and bending/stooping.
Work Environment:
  • Healthcare setting focused on patient care.
The hourly wage for this position typically ranges from $18.84 to $24.55, depending on qualifications such as education, experience, and geographical considerations.
