Purpose of the Role:
Assist patients in their recovery from injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic application of daily activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Essential Duties:
Support patients in developing, recovering, and enhancing the skills necessary for daily living and employment.
Examine patient medical histories, conduct interviews, and observe patients performing tasks to assess their conditions and requirements.
Formulate individualized treatment plans, establishing specific objectives and activities to assist patients in achieving their goals.
Guide individuals with various disabilities through tasks, demonstrate therapeutic exercises, and evaluate home or workplace environments to recommend enhancements based on health needs.
Educate family members and employers on how to support and care for the patient. Suggest specialized equipment, such as mobility aids and adaptive devices, and instruct patients on their proper use.Document and assess patient activities and progress for evaluations, billing, and communication with other healthcare professionals.
May engage with children in educational settings, assessing their abilities, modifying classroom tools to accommodate disabilities, and facilitating participation in school activities.
May work with individuals facing developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or emotional issues.Teach essential life skills such as time management, budgeting, public transportation use, and household tasks to help them navigate daily life.
May assist individuals dealing with substance abuse, depression, or other disorders.Exhibit a positive, empathetic, and professional demeanor towards all clients. Address and resolve any unmet patient needs promptly, recognizing that patient safety is paramount.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Skill Requirements:
A Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution is required.
A minimum of one year of experience working with the relevant patient population is necessary.
Licenses and Certifications:
Current active professional license or eligibility for endorsement in the state where services are provided.
CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification are required (training provided upon hire).
First aid certification may be required based on state or facility regulations.
