  • Operate custodial equipment, such as vacuums, mops, small hand and power tools, buffer/scrubber machines, steam cleaners, and other equipment as assigned
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment
  • Prepare classrooms and multi-purpose rooms for special events or meetings
  • Set up and assemble chairs, tables, and other furniture and equipment for special events and activities
  • Clean up furniture, equipment, and debris following these events
  • Perform various custodial activities, including replacing light bulbs and tubes, cleaning chalkboards and erasers, and emptying pencil sharpeners
  • Raise and lower flags
  • Unlock and lock doors and gates, ensuring facilities are properly secured
  • Set alarms as appropriate
  • Participate in thorough cleaning and restoration of a school plant during school vacation periods
  • Maintain routine records related to assigned activities
  • Communicate with District personnel to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns
  • Perform minor maintenance and repair activities
Requirements:
  • Sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, including basic methods of cleaning floors, carpets, furniture, walls, and fixtures
  • Appropriate safety precautions and procedures
  • Operation of assigned custodial equipment
  • Ability to learn the schedules, procedures, and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work
  • Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
  • Maintain buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean, orderly, and secure condition
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Move and arrange furniture and equipment
  • Work cooperatively with others
  • Operate assigned custodial equipment
  • Observe health and safety regulations
  • Learn basic record-keeping techniques

  • Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching
  • Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally
