Senior Development Manager

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Development Manager to lead our skilled developers and drive the success of our Product & Development Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to implementation, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring development resources to maximize productivity and quality for each project.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, with 10+ years of experience leading, coaching, and mentoring developers. They will be well-versed in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycles, with a strong business acumen in managing costs, developing business cases, and delivering cost-effective solutions.

The Senior Development Manager will be responsible for:

  • Managing the entire product life cycle from strategic planning to implementation
  • Collaborating with the Engineering Director, Marketing Operations, and HR in the hiring process
  • Representing the team's interests in cross-team planning sessions
  • Managing and mentoring development resources to maximize productivity and quality for each project
  • Providing timely and accurate communications with business partners
  • Providing strategic roadmaps for systems and processes and presenting to business owners and stakeholders
  • Helping create and track concrete, objective measurements to organization-level goals and KPIs
  • Investigating defects and suggestions for improving internal systems
  • Assisting with patch management testing and deployment
  • Determining plans for efficiently incorporating new products into production workflow
  • Reflecting on company goals and articulating how engineering work aligns with the broader company vision, goals, and objectives
  • Keeping job knowledge current by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications
  • Being responsible for the employee life cycle, including disciplinary actions, performance reviews, goal-reaching activities, fostering a positive environment, following company policies, etc.
  • Managing departmental budget in conjunction with company overall budget
  • Participating in the incident management process

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or commensurate experience
  • 10+ years of proven development leadership experience, leading, coaching, and mentoring developers
  • Well-versed in all aspects of Software Development Life Cycles
  • Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to lead a large team with a broad array of focus areas
  • Strong business acumen in managing costs, developing business cases, and delivering cost-effective solutions
  • Demonstrated success in being a change agent, with a vision to transform internal systems and operations to fully support our customers
  • Ability to delegate to peers or direct reports in a constructive manner
  • Experience in highly collaborative/open-source communities
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and documentation skills
