Job Title: School Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Nurse to join our team at DeKalb County School District. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of federal, state, and local laws and regulations affecting school health services, as well as normal and abnormal child development, and educational principles and approaches pertinent to children with various intellectual and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct care to students, including administering medications, giving intramuscular injections, performing respiratory assessments, and assisting with emergency needs.
  • Monitor and assess student health on a regular basis to differentiate between those who can remain in school and those who need to be excluded due to illness.
  • Maintain accurate health records and conduct regular health screenings such as vision and hearing tests.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, administrators, healthcare providers, and community resources to promote student health and create a safe school environment.
  • Provide health education to students, staff members, parents, and guardians on topics such as hand hygiene, nutrition, physical activity, and other preventive practices.
Requirements:
  • Grade 11- Licensed Practical Nursing or equivalent education/training required.
  • Grade 12- Registered Nurse or equivalent education/training or is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year registered nurse, practical nursing or closely related experience is required. Experience in pediatric nursing is preferred.
