We are seeking a highly skilled Fiberglass Technician to join our team at Willis Custom Yachts. As a Fiberglass Technician, you will be responsible for fabricating fiberglass boat components using polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin.
Key Responsibilities- Structural and Cosmetic Repairs: Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs and fabrication using epoxy and polyester resins.
- Resin Application: Determine the type of resin and catalyst required for the application and accurately measure the amounts needed for saturation and adhesion.
- Fiberglass Application: Apply multiple layers of mat/fiber to surfaces, ensuring adhesion and repeating the process until the desired thickness, contour, and strength are achieved.
- Vacuum Bagging: Safely and properly create a vacuum bag barrier on fabricated parts and operate a vacuum pump to evacuate all air from the fabrication area.
- Environmental, Health & Safety: Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following the company's safety policy.
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of structural lay-up of matting materials, including grinding and prep for repairs of finished products.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of spraying and brushing of gel coatings is required. Yacht paint and surface prep work is a plus. Carpentry skills and mold fabrication are a plus.
