Job Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician at the University Medical Center of El Paso, you will play a vital role in supporting our pharmacy team in the distribution of medication for Inpatient and Outpatient use. This position requires a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist pharmacists in the preparation and distribution of medication, ensuring accurate and timely delivery to patients.
- Manage inventory control, including ordering and stocking of medications and supplies.
- Maintain accurate records of narcotic inventory and dispensing, in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare and administer chemotherapeutic medications, as well as TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition) calculations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare staff, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements:
- Basic computer literacy and keyboarding/data entry skills, with proficiency in pharmacy software and systems.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with ability to communicate complex information to patients and healthcare staff.
- Knowledge of and ability to use computer applications, including Microsoft Office and pharmacy-specific software.
- Advanced Pharmacy Technician knowledge of pharmacy terminology and procedures, with ability to apply this knowledge in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous work experience as a Pharmacy Technician, with a strong understanding of pharmacy operations and procedures.
- Current registration for Pharmacy Technician with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy, with I.V. Certification completed within 3 months of hire.
- Graduation from a Pharmacy Technician program, with a strong foundation in pharmacy principles and practices.
