Compensation and Benefits:

Your Role in the Team:
As an apprentice, you will be enrolled in Howe's state-registered apprenticeship program, T.E.K. (Technology, Experience, and Knowledge). Under the guidance of the Foreman, you will assist in the installation and fabrication of sheet metal ducts, spiral ducts, rooftop units, and various commercial HVAC equipment and projects according to specified plans. Each day presents unique challenges as you work on installing auxiliary components for heating and cooling systems, including registers, air ducts, blowers, dampers, and flues. You will also participate in monthly classroom training facilitated by Howe, where you will learn to read blueprints, troubleshoot issues, and complete additional assignments as directed. Apprentices will also understand the importance of maintaining tools, repairing equipment, and keeping work areas organized and free of debris.
Qualifications:
To excel in Howe's T.E.K. apprenticeship, you should possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to follow instructions meticulously. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the capability to work independently while maintaining a professional appearance. Reliable transportation is necessary, as apprentices are expected to travel to various job sites.
Requirements:
Howe's T.E.K. apprenticeship provides all the necessary on-the-job and classroom training to prepare you for a licensed Sheet Metal Journeyman role. While prior construction experience is not mandatory, it is beneficial. Apprentices must demonstrate fundamental skills and knowledge of the trade, as well as a solid understanding of materials and tools used in the industry. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Demands:
Working in the sheet metal HVAC sector can be physically demanding. As an apprentice, you must have the physical strength to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs, along with the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina to complete tasks in various environments. Apprentices should also be able to work at heights, on ladders or lifts, and endure all weather conditions for extended periods. If offered a position, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, physical examination, and background check.
