Position Overview

Primary Responsibilities

The Electrophysiology Technologist plays a crucial role in the invasive cardiovascular procedure environment. This position involves operating advanced technological equipment and utilizing various products under the supervision of a qualified physician to assist in multidisciplinary cardiovascular procedures.

Key Duties Include:
  • Conducting and supporting image acquisition, processing, and physiologic/hemodynamic data collection during invasive procedures.
  • Assisting nursing staff with patient management and care.
  • Supporting the physician and invasive team throughout all phases of invasive procedures.
  • Delivering appropriate patient care aligned with the level of training.
  • Engaging in activities that promote departmental efficiency and service quality.
  • Providing exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participating in performance improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining the laboratory and/or operating room, ensuring proper management of supplies and accurate billing for services rendered.

Licensing and Certification Requirements
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association (mandatory).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (preferred).
  • RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) certification (preferred).
  • RCES (Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist) certification (preferred).
  • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification (preferred).

Educational Background
  • Associates Degree in Health Sciences or a related field (preferred).
  • One of the following accredited certifications: CVT (Cardiovascular Technician Certification), EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), Paramedic, ARRT R (Radiography), CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) (preferred).

Experience Requirements
  • Clinical patient care experience (required).
  • At least one year of experience or on-the-job training in electrophysiology, aseptic techniques, and cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures (preferred).

Working Conditions
  • High-stress periods and variable workloads may occur.
  • Exposure to potentially hazardous substances or body fluids is possible.
  • May involve working in dimly lit environments, on-call duties, and flexible scheduling.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to lift and carry weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity and the ability to perform repetitive movements.
  • Must be able to hear alarms and communicate effectively.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient in patient care and cardiovascular procedures.
  • Experience with high-tech equipment and imaging processes.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare teams.
  • Attention to detail in medical billing and inventory management.
