Job Summary

Jobs for Humanity is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Facilities Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining and caring for our district facilities, equipment, and grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general housekeeping tasks, including dust mopping and wet mopping classrooms, restrooms, and hallway floors, cleaning restrooms, stripping and sealing resilient and hard surface floors, washing windows, walls, and lockers.
  • Vacuum all carpeted areas of the building and perform housekeeping tasks according to established district systems and cleaning standards.
  • Perform minor carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and non-potable water system plumbing repairs, including cleaning equipment, ceilings, and floor tile and carpet.
  • Secure the facility, arm and disarm the security system, and report vandalism or unauthorized individuals in buildings.
  • Maintain building grounds, including watering, mowing, trimming, pruning shrubs, trees, weeding, removing paper and debris from school yards and along fence lines.
  • Perform snow removal and keep sidewalks free of ice.
  • Take charge of all aspects of the physical operation of the building for which they are responsible.
  • Maintain and submit all appropriate reports and logs in a timely manner.
  • Paint district facilities, including gym lines, minor touch-up, etc.
  • Maintain building equipment per department guidelines.
  • Set up and take down equipment, including tables, chairs, band shell, etc.
  • Respond to questions and provide excellent customer service to facility users.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Obtain State of MN Special boiler license within 1 year of hire date required.
  • Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:
    • Caring for and repairing facilities and equipment.
    • Working with the principal and building staff.
    • Responding effectively to student, staff, and community needs.
    • Providing excellent customer service.
    • Using problem-solving techniques.
    • Demonstrating effective written and oral communication skills.
    • Maintaining accurate/current records.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Helping, taking instructions, and exchanging information.
    • Computer skills, including proper use of email communication.
    • Knowledge of all safety precautions applicable to trade.
    • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Mn Second Class C boiler license preferred.
  • Training or experience cleaning and maintaining a commercial facility desired.
