Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Technician to join our team at Helping Hunds LLC. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch care and attention to our canine residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Daily Care and Feeding: Ensure the health and well-being of our dogs by providing regular feeding, administering medications, and monitoring their behavior and health.
  • Exercise and Socialization: Supervise playgroups, walks, and individual exercise sessions to promote physical and mental stimulation.
  • Cleaning and Sanitizing: Maintain the cleanliness of kennels, play areas, and common areas to the highest standards of hygiene.
  • Bathing and Grooming Support: Assist with routine bathing, brushing, and light grooming tasks to keep our dogs clean and comfortable.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Observe each dog's behavior and condition, and report any issues or concerns to the supervisor.
  • Record Keeping: Update daily logs on feeding, exercise, and medications for each dog to ensure accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Assisting Trainers: Provide care related to maintaining a dog's training or encouraging new habits.
  • Maintaining a Fear-Free Environment: Limit FAS (Fear, Anxiety, and Stress) during handling dogs, even when under stress or overwhelm.
Qualifications
  • Passion for Animal Welfare: A genuine passion for the well-being of dogs and a commitment to providing exceptional care.
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working in a kennel, shelter, or veterinary clinic is preferred but not required.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting, bending, and being on your feet for extended periods.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team.
  • Attention to Detail: Detail-oriented with a focus on safety, cleanliness, and the dogs' comfort.
  • Handling Various Breeds: Ability to handle dogs of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
  • Positive Reinforcement: Passionate about positive reinforcement based learning and fear-free handling.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work variable hours, primarily at night, early mornings, weekends, and possibly holidays.
