Job Overview
The Theodorescu Lab at Cedars-Sinai is at the forefront of cancer research, making pivotal advancements in cancer biology and treatment strategies.
Our team has been instrumental in the identification and development of a groundbreaking RalGTPase inhibitor, recognized as a novel therapeutic option across various human cancer types.
Utilizing cutting-edge techniques such as functional genomics and synthetic lethal screens—including CRISPR, shRNA, and cDNA libraries—alongside single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, we have pinpointed several candidate genes that contribute to resistance against standard chemotherapeutics and immunotherapies.
We are looking for a dedicated and innovative research scientist or postdoctoral fellow to expand upon this research by elucidating the mechanisms through which these genes influence resistance to chemotherapeutics, targeted therapies, and biological agents aimed at cancer cells and the tumor microenvironment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments while maintaining comprehensive records and documentation.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data in collaboration with the Principal Investigator.
- Develop and implement new research methodologies and protocols.
- Engage in routine and advanced laboratory procedures, including animal work as necessary.
- Contribute to the preparation of grant proposals and participate in scholarly publications as an author or co-author.
- Regularly meet with the Principal Investigator to discuss research progress and future directions.
- Allocate approximately 75% of time to hands-on research and 25% to data analysis and manuscript preparation.
Qualifications:
- A Doctorate (PhD or MD/PhD) in immunology or a closely related field.
- Experience in cancer molecular or cellular biology, with a strong background in functional genomics and next-generation sequencing.
- A comprehensive understanding of cancer biology, immunology, and signal transduction is essential.
We encourage applications from individuals completing their PhD as well as those seeking further postdoctoral training. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong publication record and/or existing external funding.
