WellLife Network is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Habilitation Specialist to join our team. As an Assistant Habilitation Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in our Astoria Day Hab program.
Job Summary:The Assistant Habilitation Specialist will assist with the operation of the classroom, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for participants. This role requires a strong commitment to providing individualized support and promoting independence, dignity, and continued growth.
Key Responsibilities:- Implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence, as determined by the IDT.
- Provide training in activities of daily living and perform these activities for individuals requiring total support, as needed.
- Monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
- Serve as a positive role model for participants in various program and community settings.
- Provide behavioral interventions when necessary, following the least restrictive OPWDD-approved techniques.
- Implement the established activity schedule for each consumer.
- Ensure the unit is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated at all times.
- Supervise participants' lunch periods and provide verbal and physical support, as needed.
- Participate in various appointments for assigned participants, as required.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Valid NYS driver's license
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferred
