Job Title: Assistant Habilitation Specialist

WellLife Network is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Habilitation Specialist to join our team. As an Assistant Habilitation Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in our Astoria Day Hab program.

Job Summary:

The Assistant Habilitation Specialist will assist with the operation of the classroom, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for participants. This role requires a strong commitment to providing individualized support and promoting independence, dignity, and continued growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement goals designed to maximize each participant's level of independence, as determined by the IDT.
  • Provide training in activities of daily living and perform these activities for individuals requiring total support, as needed.
  • Monitor participants' progress by collecting and documenting performance data.
  • Serve as a positive role model for participants in various program and community settings.
  • Provide behavioral interventions when necessary, following the least restrictive OPWDD-approved techniques.
  • Implement the established activity schedule for each consumer.
  • Ensure the unit is clean, safe, stimulating, and appropriately decorated at all times.
  • Supervise participants' lunch periods and provide verbal and physical support, as needed.
  • Participate in various appointments for assigned participants, as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Requirements:
  • Valid NYS driver's license
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, preferred
