Role Responsibilities:

The Healthcare Support Specialist will be responsible for:

  • Preparing patients for their appointments by conducting the Advanced Standard room process, which includes documenting the chief complaint, taking vital signs, reviewing medical history and allergies, and performing medication reconciliation.
  • Utilizing the Encounter Guide to address open care gaps, such as screenings for fall risk, depression, breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and diabetic eye exams.
  • Assisting with in-office testing, including blood draws, mental status evaluations, EKGs, and point-of-care testing.
  • Administering vaccines and injections within the scope of practice.
  • Coordinating follow-up appointments in accordance with office policy.
  • Collaborating with healthcare providers and the clinical care team to ensure effective delivery of care plans.

Qualifications:

For Medical Assistants:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, ideally in a primary care setting.
  • Active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) is required.

For LPNs:

  • Diploma in Practical Nursing required.
  • Active LPN licensure is mandatory.
  • Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, ideally in a primary care setting.
