Sr. Big DATA Developer with Quantexa

Job Description

We are seeking a senior-level Data Engineer with a proven track record of creating high-quality software products in AML Quantexa workstream. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, transforming, cleansing, and resolving entities of high-volume data.

The ideal candidate will work closely with client Technical Leads and Principal Data Engineers to achieve project expectations and deliver a first-class service. The role requires expertise in open-source big data technology and tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Data Fusion, and Entity Resolution.

The platform is hosted on Red Hat machines and Cloudera Distribution, and the primary language is Scala and Spark. The successful candidate should be comfortable and confident with using our platform and be Agile in their approach.

Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate deep technical knowledge and expertise in software development, including programming languages, frameworks, and best practices.
  2. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
  3. Actively contribute to the implementation of critical features and complex technical solutions.
  4. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that meets the highest standards of quality.
  5. Write defensive, fault-tolerant, and efficient code for data processing.
  6. Provide guidance on scalable, robust, and efficient solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices.
  7. Use emerging and open-source technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, and Scala.
  8. Collaborate on scalability issues involving access to massive amounts of data and information.
  9. Take on ad-hoc tasks as required.
Required Qualifications
  1. 8 years of experience in implementing data-intensive solutions using agile methodologies.
  2. Proficient in programming languages commonly used in data engineering, such as Scala, Spark, Python, and Java.
  3. Experience of building data processing pipelines for use in production, hands-off batch systems, including either or preferably both traditional ETL pipelines and/or analytics pipelines.
  4. Strong coding experience in the likes of Scala, Java, or Python.
  5. Enthusiasm to learn and develop emerging technologies and techniques.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Quantexa Certified Data Engineer.
  2. Familiarity with open-source data engineering tools and frameworks, such as Spark, Kafka, Trino.
  3. Exposure to a range of table and file formats, including Hive, Parquet, and JSON.
  4. Experience in cloud-native technologies and patterns, AWS, Google Cloud.
  5. Experience of driving and/or influencing the data strategy of your team or organization.
