Overview

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Supervisor to join our team. As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the laboratory, day-to-day laboratory operation, and personnel performing testing and reporting test results.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the selection of test methodology appropriate for the clinical use of test results
  • Participate in the verification of test procedures performed and the establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics
  • Ensure enrollment and participation in an HHS-approved proficiency testing program
  • Establish a quality control program and ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained
  • Resolve technical and operational problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken
  • Evaluate the competency of testing personnel and ensure that they maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results
  • Supervise staff and handle staffing, hiring, orientation, scheduling, evaluating, and developing staff
  • Ensure efficient utilization of resources and develop and maintain department objectives and services

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from a four-year college or university
  • At least five years of clinical laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing
  • Two years of clinical laboratory management or supervisory experience preferred
