Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $110,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Cleveland Clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in laboratory testing and result reporting, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  1. Conduct quality laboratory testing and report results in a timely and accurate manner.
  2. Ensure that results are reported in compliance with departmental, hospital, and accrediting organization standards.
  3. Accurately identify patient specimens and testing orders, and ensure results are accurate and reported in a timely manner.
  4. Resolve pending specimen results from laboratory information system for assigned departments.
  5. Report pertinent information to physicians, patient care areas, or supervisors as needed.
  6. Maintain cleanliness of work areas and keep work areas organized and stocked.
  7. Follow safety procedures and utilize safety devices and personal protective equipment per protocol.
  8. Perform instrument maintenance checks, start-ups, and shut downs as assigned or required.
  9. Answer telephones, greet customers, and provide consult and technical support to physicians, phlebotomists, and nursing staff.
  10. Document quality control and out-of-range results in an appropriate manner.

Requirements

  1. Associates degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Medical Technology, or equivalent required.
  2. Bachelor's degree in Chemical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Biological Sciences, and Medical Technology preferred.
  3. Must be licensed in the State of Florida at the technologist level.
  4. Minimum of one or more specialties in Microbiology, Immunohematology, or all licenses.
  5. American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification preferred.
