Dialysis Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Dialysis Tech to join our team at Equiliem Healthcare. As a Dialysis Tech, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our dialysis treatments.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in providing patient-specific education on dialysis adequacy measures, including Online Clearance Monitoring (OLC), Adequacy Monitoring Program (AMP), and Urea Kinetic Modeling (UKM).
• Evaluate vascular access for patency and report any unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Obtain necessary pre- and post-treatment vitals and report any unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and report any difficulties or unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Administer Heparin as delegated or as allowed by state law, and initiate dialysis treatment according to prescribed orders.
• Evaluate intradialytic problems and provide intervention as prescribed by physician order.
• Monitor patients' response to dialysis therapy and report any unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Obtain vital signs prior to reinfusion and perform all relevant functions necessary for the discontinuation of treatment.
• Discontinue dialysis treatment according to established procedures and evaluate patient prior to termination of venous access.
• Obtain Hemostasis and apply appropriate dressings.
• Evaluate patient for discharge and report any unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Perform and record pre- and post-dialysis evaluation.
• Calculate and enter patients' dialysis machine programming for Ultrafiltration (UF) goal, treatment time, Sodium (Na) modeling, and UF modeling as prescribed.
• Ensure appropriate safety alarms are enabled, including Narrow Venous Limits (NVL) 160.
• Record accurate and timely information regarding vital signs and treatment parameters onto the Hemodialysis Treatment Sheet.
• Document accurate information related to patient treatment.
• Report any significant information and/or change in patient condition directly to the supervisor.
• Observe patient and conduct machine safety checks according to facility policy.
• Report any change or unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Perform and document any intervention for unusual patient status and document patients' response to intervention.
• Evaluate patients' vascular access during treatment, including arterial and venous monitoring pressures, and provide appropriate intervention as needed.
• Obtain all prescribed laboratory testing and prepare specimens for collection.
• Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics, ensuring all areas are safe and clean.
• Clean and disinfect dialysis machine surface, chair, equipment, and surrounding areas between treatments according to facility policy.
• Conduct all tasks necessary for preparation for dialysis treatment and document.
• Perform all required pretreatment dialysis machine alarm testing, including Pressure Holding (PHT).
• Initiate Solution Delivery System (SDS) system.
• Prepare, organize, and efficiently utilize supplies and equipment to prevent wastage.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Center for Medicaid/Medicare Services (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification or High School diploma or G.E.D. and must meet certification requirements within the required state or CMS timeline.
• All appropriate state licensure, education, and training (if any) required.
• BLS-AHA required.
• (CMS)-approved state and/or national certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Minimum 1 year prior experience as a Dialysis Tech required.
• Outpatient Hemodialysis experience.
• Fresenius experience preferred.
Work Schedule:
• 1:30 PM - 10:00 PM, 5 x 8hr shift.
• Weekends Required as Needed.
• Holidays Required as Needed.
• No On-Call Requirement.
