Position Type: Contract to hire
Work Schedule: 2nd and 3rd shifts
Compensation: Starting at $22/hr, with increases after 6 months

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (Chemistry, Food Science, Biochemistry, etc.)
  • Fundamental math and science skills, along with laboratory experience.
  • Ability to make observations and effectively organize tasks and time.
  • Capable of contributing positively in a team setting.

The role of the Quality Control Specialist is crucial in ensuring the quality of incoming materials, in-process items, and final products. This individual will report any discrepancies in the finished products to the QA Supervisor or Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate the pH, viscosity, water activity, brix, density, flavor, color, texture, and overall appearance of ingredients, in-process items, and finished goods.
  • Conduct titrations to determine concentrations of salt, lactic acid, and acetic acid.
  • Prepare flavorings and colorants for product formulations.
  • Inspect production lines to validate the integrity of all testing components.
  • Collect samples of ingredients, products, or packaging and monitor testing in accordance with established protocols.
  • Oversee processes to ensure consistent operation.
  • Label and maintain samples of ingredients and retain samples for shelf-life assessment.
  • Keep laboratory equipment clean and organized.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Test Research & Development samples for food safety and specification development.
