Job Description

VNS Health is seeking a highly skilled Nurse Educator to join our team in a community-based healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Design and deliver clinical education programs to foster high-quality care through implementation of evidence-based practice, performance improvement activities, and professional staff development.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with education staff across the enterprise to develop an annual training calendar, ensuring a coordinated approach to ongoing programs.
  • Alignment with Strategic Objectives: Ensure clinical education programs align with the CMS Triple Aim framework, improving patient experience, population health, and reducing healthcare costs.
  • Staff Development: Develop and implement clinical staff development programs, including orientation, in-services, training, and other learning activities.
  • Program Evaluation: Review program-specific educational program outcomes and program evaluations to determine areas for improvement and make recommendations for change and/or new programs.
  • Training and Oversight: Train and/or oversee training of new and current staff in VNS Health philosophy, policy, standards, procedures, documentation, models for service delivery, and efficient work processes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate performance of newly hired staff and staff referred on for remedial or additional training.
  • Curriculum Development: Design new and modify existing educational curriculum and training materials to ensure staff has current knowledge and competencies to meet program contractual and regulatory compliance.
  • Needs Assessment: Conduct educational needs assessments in collaboration with operations staff to identify learning needs among staff.
  • Program Implementation: Develop education programs such as workshops and/or group learning activities and follow up to ensure programs are effectively implemented.
  • Performance Improvement: Identify performance issues and develop performance improvement plans for tenured employees in collaboration with program management.
  • Orientation and Ongoing Education: Review and evaluate clinical orientation and ongoing educational program outcomes to determine areas for improvement and recommend changes to current orientation program.
  • E-Learning Opportunities: Communicate ongoing e-learning opportunities and evaluate e-learning usage and effectiveness.
  • Course Evaluation: Analyze course evaluations to evaluate effectiveness of training sessions and implement improvements.
  • Strategic Goals and Objectives: Participate in the development of annual clinical education strategic goals and objectives.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Utilize resources and practices sound fiscal responsibility and provide input for the development of the department budget.
  • Collaboration with Quality Department: Collaborate with Quality department in the development of and implementation of education-related training programs.
  • Program Content Presentation: Ensure program content is presented in a manner that promotes learning and enables trainees to meet competency requirements.
  • Service Excellence: Demonstrate services excellence and create and implement education and training programs that are centered on the goals and strategies of VNS Health.
Requirements
  • Current License and Registration: Current license and registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent work experience required. Master's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Experience: Minimum four years' experience in a community-based or long-term home health setting, including at least two years with a primary focus on education and training.
  • Medicare Experience: Medicare experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, patient care, care coordination, case management, and clinical processes required. Effective oral and written communication, presentation, analytical, coaching, and organizational skills required. Knowledge of computer applications required.
