Job Summary

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team in the acute care and critical care settings. As an intensivist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of critically ill and convalescing infants from admission to discharge.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and document a health history for a neonate, performing and documenting a complete, system-focused, or symptom-specific physical examination, assessment, and plan of care.
  • Provide neonatal healthcare services for critically ill and complex patients, managing patient's overall care and identifying expected outcomes for diagnoses.
  • Order, perform, interpret, and collect data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information, and diagnostic procedures where indicated.
  • Form differential diagnoses and treat acute and chronic conditions in the neonatal population.
  • Presume therapeutic interventions both pharmacologic, non-pharmacologic, and surgical, needed to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Perform delivery room service and neonatal transport services, initiate appropriate referrals and consultations, and provide consultation services as requested within scope of practice.
  • Facilitate the patient's transition between and within health care settings, such as admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
