Position Overview:

The Packaging Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of packaging machinery. This position is essential for maintaining safety and quality standards while optimizing machine performance to achieve minimal downtime and high-quality output.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot assigned packaging machinery.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and adhere to safety protocols.
  • Configure equipment for optimal performance, including loading and operating machines.
  • Ensure machinery operates at full capacity and perform basic maintenance to uphold product quality.
  • Prepare machines for production cycles, including calibration and cleaning.
  • Continuously feed raw materials into packaging machines throughout the shift.
  • Monitor machine operations to ensure accurate product measurements.
  • Report mechanical and operational issues to the maintenance team promptly.
  • Make minor adjustments to machines to maintain precision.
  • Achieve standard production rates while minimizing waste and meeting company requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports accurately.
  • Monitor raw material scrap levels to reduce waste continuously.
  • Assist in training and directing team members, ensuring safety and compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Oversee the quality of products produced during the shift, adhering to company quality systems.
  • Assemble and disassemble machinery for production or changeovers.
  • Collaborate with maintenance on equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Understand and follow the daily production packaging schedule.
  • Read and comprehend product specifications and identify deviations.
  • Ensure proper printing of lot and case coding.
  • Perform assigned clean-up activities.
  • Be open to additional duties as assigned by plant management.

Food Safety Duties:

  • Report and assist in resolving any food safety issues immediately.
  • Enforce current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs).
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices and prerequisite programs.

Language Proficiency:

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English and/or Spanish.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and climb regularly.

Supervisor: Shift Supervisor

Compensation: $18.50 per hour

Work Schedule:

  • Available for 1st or 2nd shift.
  • Willingness to work weekends as needed.

COVID-19 Compliance: Employees must present proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request accommodations as per legal requirements.

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
