Research Internship Opportunity

Free the Slaves is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Intern to support our programming in the Middle East and North Africa region.

The Research Intern will assist in collecting and analyzing secondary data on modern slavery in the region, identifying key challenges and opportunities for strengthening the response. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in research, excellent analytical and writing skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze secondary data on modern slavery in the Middle East and North Africa region
  • Create databases to host secondary data and clean and organize the data collected
  • Analyze secondary data into relevant themes and identify key recommendations and reflections
  • Design tools for the organization and visualization of research findings
  • Write literature reviews, concept notes, and other outputs
  • Present research findings to the Research Program Coordinator and the MENA Regional Manager

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of an accredited college or university as a degree-seeking student
  • Demonstrated history of excellence in studies and a strong background in research
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken
  • Demonstrated history of interest and/or involvement in the anti-slavery or human rights movement
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as a functioning knowledge of word processing with Microsoft Word
