Humanities Lecturer Pool

We are seeking a highly qualified Humanities Lecturer to join our faculty pool at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching lower-division undergraduate General Education courses, including "Chronicles of Education" and the series of "Field study in Humanities" courses. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social and cultural foundations of education, with experience in teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
Responsibilities- Teach lower-division undergraduate General Education courses, including "Chronicles of Education" and the series of "Field study in Humanities" courses.
- Hold regular office hours for students, work cooperatively with other department faculty, staff, and department chair, and participate in required course grading and assessment activities.
- Demonstrate awareness of and address the needs of a student population of great diversity, including age, abilities, cultural background, ethnicity, religion, economic background, primary language, sexual orientation, gender identity, and academic preparation.
- Organize all classes within the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS).
- Offer and meet all classes as scheduled throughout the entire semester or term, in the mode assigned and listed in the schedule of classes.
- MA or ABD or Ph.D. or Ed.D. in social and cultural foundations of education or related education fields.
- Demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, as gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
- Interest in and record of scholarly activity desirable.
- Strong college-level teaching skills and experience required, and experience related to K-8 classrooms preferred.

Anticipated starting salary:
L-A / Range 2 - $5007 - $5675L-B /Range 3 - $5925 - $7125
L-C / Range 4 - $6500 - $8982
L-D / Range 5 - $8184 - $9854
Range salaries above are the anticipated monthly salary rate of full-time AY faculty--part-time rates are prorated. There are 6 monthly payments per semester (full-time AY annual salary = rate x 12). See the Faculty Salary Schedule for more information.
