Senior Counsel

Freshpet is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our legal department, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's commercial strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

• Provide commercial counsel to the business, drafting and negotiating a wide range of agreements, including vendor, technology, marketing, construction, consulting, product, social media, and other commercial agreements.
• Stay up-to-date on regulatory, data privacy, intellectual property, and other applicable federal, state, and international legal developments relevant to our business.
• Assist with the management of external counsel in a cost-effective manner.
• Leverage our contract management system in coordination with our contracts manager, assist in contract template development.
• Provide support on other legal matters as needed.

• A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the NJ bar (or ability to secure in-house licensure).
• 5-8+ years of relevant legal experience, with Big Law and in-house experience preferred.
• Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills, spanning multiple disciplines.
• Strong thought leadership and business partnering skills at all organizational levels.
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills, with the highest attention to detail.
