A structural engineer's role involves crafting structures that meet specific purposes while ensuring safety, cost-effectiveness, and functionality throughout their intended lifespan. Responsibilities include contributing to the growth of the structural division, designing and constructing buildings that can endure environmental factors, and enhancing the structural integrity of existing constructions, including wind/wall bracing and load assessments.

Field visits to job sites are essential for inspecting diverse structural concerns, assessing the integrity of buildings, and compiling reports to meet necessary compliance standards. Strong communication skills are imperative. While AutoCAD experience is not mandatory, freelance engineers are also welcome to apply, provided they hold full certification and licensure in the State of Virginia.

Additionally Hiring Certified Inspectors: The inspector's primary responsibility involves evaluating concrete placement prior to the actual pouring, which includes footings, walls, and slabs across various jurisdictions. The inspector's duty is to either approve or reject sites based on adherence to codes, county-approved plans, and minimum building standards.

Certification Requirements: WACEL SOILS I / WACEL CONCRETE I / WACEL FOUNDATIONS, or equivalent certifications.
