Job Overview:
The Reliability Engineering Lead collaborates with field Maintenance Engineers, Project Engineers, operational personnel, and various levels of the Maintenance organization to ensure the secure and efficient functioning of the designated facility.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough analysis of malfunctioning equipment to identify and rectify underlying issues.
Develop and implement Reliability Control Plans for multiple equipment categories to promote sustained enhancements in safety, environmental stewardship, and operational efficiency. Provide guidance on the accurate execution and documentation of repair and preventive maintenance (PM) tasks for fixed equipment; assist in the creation of job plans and necessary documentation to support these efforts. Engage with preferred equipment manufacturers, specialists, and technical consultants to ensure optimal support. Acquire the necessary experience and skills to formulate maintenance job plans for specific repair tasks. Understand the procedures for maintaining and revising maintenance documentation (e.g., repair reports, bill of materials, upgrade suggestions) for critical equipment. Prepare formal technical reports to document repair actions, failure analyses, equipment and process enhancements, and inspection results. Collect, analyze, report, and manage plant reliability metrics. Participate in site Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) initiatives. Assist with troubleshooting equipment performance as needed. Support equipment installations and upgrades by ensuring that design-for-maintainability and reliability principles are integrated into projects. Develop and maintain job plans for specific repair tasks. Continuously update maintenance documentation (e.g., repair reports, bill of materials, upgrade suggestions) for critical equipment.
Basic Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline. Six Sigma Green Belt certification is preferred. 7-10 years of experience in chemical or petrochemical plant maintenance and/or reliability engineering.
Additional Qualifications:
Proficiency in Root Cause Failure Analysis and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis. Experience in a leadership capacity; temporary or interim roles are acceptable. Familiarity with drafting and design software. Experience in a unionized environment is preferred. Skills in inspecting and designing repairs for equipment. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Capability to perform physical tasks in an industrial setting, including climbing ladders and entering confined spaces. Knowledge of mechanical design, material selection, repair techniques, and fitness-for-service evaluations. A solid educational foundation in materials, mechanics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer. Self-motivated and goal-oriented with a proven track record of working independently and in cross-functional teams. Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Proficient in using influence to achieve goals and objectives. Hands-on experience with SAP work management systems or similar platforms. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
