Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Specialist to join our team at The MetroHealth System.

Key Responsibilities
  • Decontaminate, prepare, package, sterilize, and store general surgical instrumentation, supplies, and linen for the operating room and labor and delivery.
  • Maintain optimal functioning of all sterile processing equipment, with special attention to sterilizers.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of patient equipment for hospital use.
  • Provide service to all hospital departments utilizing reprocessed and/or sterilized instrumentation, supplies, and patient care equipment.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
  • One year of Central Service hospital experience, or graduation from an accredited sterile processing program with a C or better average, or currently enrolled in an accredited sterile processing program with a C or better average.
  • Certification by a national agency in sterile processing within 9 months of employment.
  • Good communication skills and phone etiquette.
  • Ability to work independently and self-guided with a strong attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic PC skills.
  • Experience with materials management and/or operating room information systems.
  • Medical terminology.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
  • Ability to push/pull 350 pounds.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
