Position Overview

The Securities Operations division is integral to the investment lifecycle, overseeing vital asset strategies including fixed income, private equity, and commercial mortgage loans. The Director of Securities Operations - Private Assets will be responsible for the essential daily operations of the firm's diverse portfolio, which is managed both internally and externally, to support various functions such as Portfolio Management, Investment Solutions, Trading, and Accounting. This role encompasses the management and supervision of operational processes related to private equity, private debt, and other non-public investment products. The successful candidate will ensure precise transaction processing, settlement, and reporting, while also maintaining compliance documentation. A strong candidate will excel in a dynamic work environment, demonstrating excellent prioritization skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage daily activities related to private assets, including trade settlements, drawdowns, and interest payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of private asset holdings, conduct valuation assessments, and ensure all documentation is compliant. Collaborate with fund managers and external partners to reconcile accounts and address discrepancies.
  • Conduct daily reconciliations of loan positions and cash across the private asset portfolio.
  • Review new transactions in the loan management system to verify setup accuracy.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with clients, agents, and custodian banks.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with the Investment's front, middle, and back office, as well as with corporate partners.
  • Continuously evaluate and enhance processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and security in private asset management. Implement best practices and adopt new technologies as appropriate.
  • Lead and mentor senior analysts and associates, fostering team development.
  • Ensure consistent and reliable attendance.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Bachelor's degree with 7+ years of experience in investment related to private assets.
OR

• Master’s degree, MBA, ASA, or FSA with 5+ years of relevant investment experience.

Preferred:

• MBA or other relevant postgraduate qualifications.

• Knowledge of the reinsurance or insurance sectors.

• Familiarity with the BlackRock Aladdin trade order management system.

• Experience with ClearPar and established loan systems.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Knowledge of Loan Markets and Credit Agreements: Proficient in financial and accounting principles related to the loan market and credit agreements, utilizing relevant systems for operations.

• Understanding of the Settlements Process: Comprehends the funding and settlement processes, ensuring documentation accuracy and collaboration with various parties.

• Technologically adept with skills in programming and process improvement/automation.

• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent organizational skills, capable of multitasking and managing projects under tight deadlines.

• Advanced oral and written communication skills.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to departmental projects.

• Skilled in translating business needs into viable solutions.

• Strong customer relationship management and change management skills.

• Ability to engage with individuals across various operational and technical disciplines.

The general pay range for this position is $123k-$140k base per year, with variations based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
