Network Engineer Job Description

At Macro Solutions, we are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our team. As a Network Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing and maintaining our computer networks, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), internet, intranet, cloud, data center, and other communications systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform administration and implementation tasks for our network infrastructure, including wired, wireless, and voice connectivity.
  • Respond to requests for installation, administration, and support of network components and systems.
  • Provide technical support for network issues, network analysis, installation, configuration, and support.
  • Coordinate and make assignments for the current and future requirements of assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Implement and provide guidance related to processes and policies.
  • Create and maintain network documentation, including scopes of works, diagrams, processes, and test plans.
  • Monitor network performance and investigate problems and outages to resolution.
  • Evaluate and recommend solutions that are feasible, cost-effective, compatible, and consistent with the department and organization's strategic goals.
  • Research, plan, test, and support the implementation of various business and technical solutions.
  • Respond as required or requested on a 24/7 on-call basis to support the organization.
  • Work with other network engineers and/or vendor support to reduce network service disruption.
  • Take initiative, exercise sound judgment, communicate, and when necessary, direct inside and outside resources to resolve problems.
  • Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning for the enterprise.
  • Incorporate security best practices in Network design implementation.
Qualifications + Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or similar field of study.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and relevant industry certification may be substituted as appropriate.
  • 4-5 Years of Networking experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to track, manage, and ensure project tasks are completed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Working Technical Knowledge in Network Automation and Network Design.
  • Working knowledge in Enterprise Wireless Technology.
  • Working knowledge in Extreme Networks (Extreme Routing and Switching, Extreme Fabric Connect, ExtremeCloud IQ) is a plus.
  • Working knowledge in low voltage structured cabling design and outside plant fiber optic cabling design.
