About the OpportunityWe are seeking a skilled Transportation Specialist to join our team as a Transit Bus Operator. As a valued member of our team, you will contribute to the success of our organization by providing exceptional service to our customers and communities. This is a full-time, unionized position with competitive wages and benefits.

Your primary responsibilities will include operating a bus safely and efficiently, adhering to designated route schedules, assisting passengers, and addressing situations that may affect operations. You will also be responsible for performing pre and post bus inspections, reporting equipment malfunctions, operating the bus in a safe and professional manner, providing courtesy passenger assistance, collecting fares, and reporting delays, breakdowns, and accidents.

We are looking for a candidate with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and strong customer service skills. You should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment, be compassionate towards passengers and coworkers, and possess excellent time management skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate a bus safely and efficiently.
  • Adhere to designated route schedules.
  • Assist passengers and address situations that may affect operations.
  • Perform pre and post bus inspections.
  • Report equipment malfunctions.
  • Provide courtesy passenger assistance.
  • Collect fares.
  • Report delays, breakdowns, and accidents.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Class B license with passenger and airbrake endorsements.
  • Knowledge of bus mechanics and safety.
  • ADA Compliance knowledge.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak the English Language effectively.
  • Maintain a clean and safe driving record.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as needed.

BenefitsWe offer a competitive salary, estimated at $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience, and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
