POSITION SUMMARY:
The role involves coordinating and delivering tailored instructional programs for students with special needs, ensuring adherence to their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). The educator will assess and monitor the effectiveness of educational strategies for students with disabilities while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- In-depth understanding of instructional methodologies and practices related to specialized education;
- Comprehensive knowledge of standard curriculum benchmarks and developmental milestones;
- Familiarity with state and federal regulations governing services for students with disabilities;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Google Workspace;
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;
- Commitment to safeguarding the confidentiality of student information in accordance with applicable laws;
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting;
- Skills to inspire and motivate students;
- Capability to continuously monitor and ensure the safety and well-being of students;
- Sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning styles;
- Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written, utilizing various techniques to facilitate effective information exchange;
- Ability to foster positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents, and community stakeholders.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess or be eligible for a Professional Educator's License in an Exceptional Children's teaching area;
- A valid driver's license in accordance with state regulations is required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certifications in First Aid and CPR;
- Training in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement IEPs for students with disabilities, utilizing assessment data to inform instructional practices.
2. Employ instructional strategies and monitoring tools to deliver customized education.
3. Support students in achieving curriculum objectives and IEP goals.
4. Utilize diverse teaching methods and adapt materials to cater to individual student needs.
5. Oversee student behavior, maintain classroom discipline, and teach appropriate behavioral strategies.
6. Assess student work and progress, adjusting instruction as necessary to meet educational needs.
7. Participate in IEP meetings as a collaborative team member.
8. Stay informed about educational trends and best practices through professional development opportunities.
9. Perform additional duties as assigned.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be able to operate various office equipment and communicate effectively. Physical demands may include lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- The role requires working in both classroom and office settings, interacting with staff, students, parents, and the community.
